At first look, the idea of a farmers’ market in Hollywood might seem a little antithetical to the place. It’s one of the world’s largest cities, and urban centers are typically displacing farmland, so that any agriculture in the city has to be grown on the rooftops. But then again, considering the size of the homes, there’s lots of room for growing fresh things, until the idea of a rich and famous celebrity hoeing the ground knocks away that idea entirely. Los Angeles is an unusual place by any standards, so anything goes here, although the markets have a pretty reasonable explanation.
There’s plenty of markets in town, because this is Southern California, close enough to most of the huge expanses of farmland that make up a large part of the state. In the 1930s, the city was just getting into its glory, right before the war years when it became the central city for filmmaking in the world. This was also the time when one of the most famous markets in town, on 3rd and Fairfax was starting. It developed out of an idea to centralize all the people who would bring their wares into town on trucks, and it took off from there to become one of the city’s great attractions.
That one’s not just a place to buy produce and other goods, but a major meeting place for the city’s celebrities. Deals go down all the time here, and it’s even rumored that James Dean had his last breakfast here before a car ride that would end the icon forever. There are actually dozens and dozens of other farmer’s markets , and there’s certainly one open every day of the week somewhere. It’s some of the most interesting people watching, to go from 4 star hotels in Los Angeles , to find out how people live here, and it’s obviously very, very well.

The Pacific Coast Highway also known as Highway 1 is a beautiful drive up the California coast. It starts in Orange County California moves through must see places like Venice Beach, Santa Monica and Malibu. Works its way up along some of the most scenic areas of San Luis Obispo, Monterey and Santa Cruz. It reaches its way to San Francisco over the Golden Gate Bridge and through Marin County. It makes its final stop in Leggett California where travelers can see some of the most amazing redwood trees.
Each area of the drive has its own adventure and beauty. In the southern section of the highway visitors will find some great fun in stops like Santa Monica. There are some really fabulous hotels to check into that are close to some main attractions like the Santa Monica Pier and the Third Street Promenade. If one takes a long enough walk south down the beach boardwalk they will end up along Venice Beach and all of the crazy people and sights to see there. It is truly a one of a kind place.
Santa Monica and the surrounding area may have a few celebrities walking around like Owen Wilson and his brother Luke Wilson, who have been seen walking on the Santa Monica Pier. There are also some great places to shop and eat both on the boardwalk and pier as well as the Third Street Promenade. There are many brand name shops along the promenade like Anthropologie and the Pottery Barn as well as American Eagle Outfitters and the Banana Republic. What ever your favorite stores are, they are bound to found along this pedestrian friendly walk way along with many nice places to eat like Barney’s Beanery . So make sure you plan to spend some time in the different areas that the Pacific Coast Highway has to play in on your vacation.

I just bought this great condo in central Phoenix, there is a nice sized patio that needs some attention. I love to garden and grow tropical plants and always wanted to build a koi pond and would love to be able to have a hot tub too. There should be plenty of room if I plan it right.
To start the measurement of the patio are 12 feet deep and 30 feet long. I want to build a pond that is at least 200 gallons as it is easier to keep the water stabilized for the fish with a larger quantity of water. I figure that should take up about a space measuring about 10 feet by 12 feet for the pond and filtering system, leaving plenty of room for a hot tub. After looking on the Internet at hot tubs there are plenty of models that would fit into the space left after the pond is installed. I think I will go with a smaller model as the size of the patio and I don’t want to overwhelm the space with the hot tub.
I am really looking forward to turning this patio into a lush tropical paradise which will be a stark contrast to the desert around us. I can imagine soaking in my relaxing hot tub on my tropical patio with the koi in their pond near by. And knowing me that won’t be the end of it. Once I get that all done a small aviary would be very nice with some lovebirds sweetly chirping away.
This will be a project and take some time to complete. I want to do the work myself on the pond and I am imagining that will take at least a month if not more to complete. After that the hot tub will be installed then I can plant the tropical garden and finally an aviary.

A backyard deck and be very simple to extremely complex and the cost to build it various just as much. In planning a deck, there a many things to consider, such as the amount of space that should and also can bet taken up by it as well as the material that should be used and all the features one would like it to contain. To make this major decision, many couples and individuals prefer to access professional advice and guidance through the project. Choosehottubsdirect.com is customer service oriented and recognizes the process of creating a major backyard renovation is as important as the product itself.
Some of the most common materials used in backyard decks are wood, tile and concrete and stone. Concrete and wood decks generally run along a similar price range for the basic structure. One of the common concerns with wood decks is its potential to become slippery. This is addressed in a few ways and there are stains available to reduce and eliminate this tendency. Tile is usually a more expensive material and it is important to remember that this material will only work for decks that are built in climates that are free from frost. Stone also is usually more expensive than wood or concrete and it combines a strong durability with great beauty.
While choosing the deck material can be one of the exciting aspects of the overall design of the backyard hot tub environment the final decision is often times dependent on the budget and allotted space. However, once the deck and hot tub design is agreed on and the installation begins, the backyard will never look or feel the same way again.
