Linda was so glad, after the fact, that she allowed her husband Travis to pick the location of their last vacation. Generally, it was something that they decided together, and once when they had difficulty choosing a place they each put an option in a hat and had their neighbor randomly pick one for them. That year they went to Madrid, Spain, and it too was an incredible experience. However, this year they decided to try something new. Instead of always trying to choose a mutual and equally appealing location, which oftentimes proved to be difficult, they decided that each year they would take turns choosing the location. And since this was originally Linda’s idea, she decided to let Travis have the first pick and thought that would entice him to agree with this structure.

Travis immediately liked the idea and thought it would actually allow for greater personal expression and offer each of them the chance to experience something unfamiliar and learn more about the other’s interests. He immediately jumped at the chance to not only choose first, but to initiate this new system. When he announced that the summer’s vacation would occur in Brisbane, Australia, Linda kept it hid, but had to admit to herself that she was a little regretful of the idea because she really wanted to go to Greece that year. So, she added to the plan that the person who chose the location also had to do the research on where to stay and what to do.

Travis was happy to do all of the above and found the perfect accommodations for the two of them in one of the quaint hotels Brisbane. Linda found herself slightly surprised but immediately fell in love with the city and enjoyed the incredible views from their hotel balcony. Their first night in town they walked along the Riverside Walkway and neither of them could believe the beauty of the night’s cityscape. Great views and hotel accommodations were not the only thing they enjoyed. They visited the local landmarks and museums and also saw a great production of the Magic Flute by Opera Queensland.
