There seems to be many unexpected hazards in driving today.  Whether it is dangerous mountain roads, or the hectic nature of rush hour traffic it may seem that so much is out of the driver’s control.  However there are some very simple steps that everyone can take that will ensure that their vehicles are handling at the highest level.  One of these is the proper maintenance and care of their tires, whether they are fitted for custom car wheels, fitted to 20 rims, or are just mounted on regular everyday vehicles, making certain that they remain properly filled with air is a must, as well as keeping an eye on the condition of the tread.  Three aspects of air pressure will affect the safety of your vehicle and of yourself.  People must take care that the tires and never under inflated, and that their cars are never overloaded with too much additional weight.

The manufacturers of all vehicles will provide guides for knowing the pressure that is right for you vehicle, as well as giving you ways to see if any additional weight in the car is putting too much pressure onto the car tires.  This is either found on the manufacturer sticker on the inside of the door panel of every car, or in the manual.  This will even give the proper ratios of both the front and the rear tires as those numbers between the two may vary.  This is the PSI, which stands for proper pounds per square inch.  The manual will also give you a number in pounds as to how much additional weight your car and your tires are able to handle.  It is recommended by the NHTSA, or the National Highway Safety Administration, that tire pressure should be checked each month.  This is one of the easiest ways in which people are able to influence the safety of their own vehicles, for themselves and for the other drivers on the road.
