Map of Spain Tells of Grandfather’s Adventures
March 18, 2008 8:12 pm TravelI was going through an old box of my grandfather’s and I found several maps. There are cities circled on them so I figured he must have traveled to those places. there was a map of Italy that had Rome circled. He also wrote "1952," the year he went there I suppose. I asked my mother about the maps and if he went to the places circled but she didn’t know.
What I found most interesting was that he had several maps of China. It’s unusual for someone to get to go there at all, but to go there several times is really rare. The numbers on those maps are 1948, 1962 and 1977. I was alive then but I don’t remember him every going anywhere. He must have had so much fun traveling all of the world.
Of all the maps I found, I think I would like to use the map of Spain. I’ve always wanted to go there since my mother was born there. I think that seeing Madrid, which Granddad apparently visited in 1952, would be wonderful. Since soccer is so huge there I’d like to catch a game of two also.
